Things You Can Do With ChatGPT (free version)

ChatGPT's Projects feature lets you create separate workspaces for different tasks or clients. Think of it like having dedicated folders that remember everything about a specific project. Each Project stores your conversations, files and custom instructions in one place. You can upload brand guidelines, client briefs, or templates once and ChatGPT remembers them for every conversation in that Project. This means you stop repeating yourself and get more accurate responses. For example, create a Project for your marketing team with your company's tone of voice and another Project for finance reports with your specific data format. Each Project keeps information separate so nothing gets mixed up.

To start using Projects, open ChatGPT and look for Projects in the left sidebar. Click Create Project and give it a clear name like Client Proposals or Monthly Reports. Add any files or documents ChatGPT should reference, then write custom instructions about how you want responses formatted. These instructions apply to every chat in that Project. Now start a conversation inside your Project, and ChatGPT will use everything you've set up. You'll save hours of repetitive explanations and get consistent results every time. Try creating your first Project for a task you do weekly. Set it up once and watch your productivity increase.

On the left side panel of ChatGPT, select Projects

Give your project a name:

Add files related to the project

For Custom Instructions, in the left sidebar of the project workspace, click on the three dots … next to the project name, select Settings.

Locate the section labeled Custom Instructions, Project Instructions or System prompt.

Add your instructions. Remember the role, Steps, End Goal and Narrowing (RISEN framework).

Click Save. These instructions become the default context for all chats, files and tools inside this proejct.

*Some workspaces may have a slightly different layout or limited permissions.

** Don’t forget about privacy. Upload only information that you are ok with floating around in public.
