This is the last newsletter of the year and will resume again in January 2026!

3 Google Translate Feature Updates

Better text translations: Google Translate now uses Gemini to better understand context, slang and local phrases, so results sound more like a real person talking, not a word-for-word swap. The upgrade is available in the U.S. and India for English and almost 20 other languages like Spanish, Hindi, Chinese and German. Rolling out to other countries soon.

Real-time headphone translation: A new beta feature sends live translations straight to your headphones so you can follow conversations more easily. It works on Android in the U.S., Mexico and India, supports 70+ languages; and will come to iOS and more countries in 2026.

Help for language learning: Translate is getting better for learning, including speaking practice, streaks and real-world practice scenarios.

AI Won’t Steal Your Job, But McKinsey Says Your SKills Will Need To Evolve

Their research shows that while current technologies could automate up to 57% of work hours, more than 70% of the skills employers want today still apply in both AI-automated and non-automated tasks.

That means your skills aren't disappearing but how you use them is.

Adaptability is key not total reinvention.

Critical thinking, communication and collaboration still matter. But now they need to work alongside tools like ChatGPT and Copilot.

This shift isn’t about replacement. It’s about rethinking roles.

If your company retrains you to pair human strengths with AI capabilities, you’re far more future-proof than you think.

The real risk is staying static while the work around you changes.

Start small: pick one AI tool and use it to improve one weekly task.

You'll improve faster, stress less, and build the confidence to outlast any trend.

Jobs won’t disappear because of AI. Roles will shift.

⬇️ Recap of AI Bias Towards Women

After a year of delivering workshops, I am hopeful that more of you are aware of the gender bias and digital discrimination women & people from underrepresented communities face.

As a reminder, here is a summary when using AI:

AI:

👎 recommended lower salaries for women (up to $120,000 less)
👎 thinks all investors, doctors, CEOs and engineers are men
👎 gives higher credit to men applying for loans and credit cards
👎 suggests women are less confident, less experienced and sound younger in resume analysis even with the exact same resume and data as a man's. The only difference was a name change.

Be aware of AI bias and challenge the bias.

I invite you to inform your daughters, partners, nieces, mothers, aunties, neighbours, colleauges and grandmas. AI has the capacity to reach equity, but it requires intentionality.

Share this information with the women in your life. Send this newsletter to them!

May the rest of your December be full of laughter, warmth and rest.
